White Horse Forestry, Inc is currently seeking motivated and skilled Seasonal Wildland Firefighters to join our team for the upcoming fire season. We are hiring for several positions, including FFT1, FFT1(t), FFT2, and ENGB, with Red Card certification. Candidates with additional qualifications such as a CDL and Medical Card are highly encouraged to apply. Available Positions:

  • FFT1 with Red Card: (Firefighter Type 1)
  • FFT1(t) with Red Card: (Firefighter Type 1 in Training)
  • FFT2 with Red Card: (Firefighter Type 2)
  • ENGB with Red Card, CDL & Med Card: (Engine Boss with Commercial Driver’s License & Medical Card)
  • ENGB(t) with Red Card, CDL & Med Card: (Engine Boss in Training with Commercial Driver’s License & Medical Card)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wildland Firefighting: Participate in wildland fire suppression, control, and prevention activities. Safely and effectively operate equipment to suppress wildfires.
  • Fireline Operations: Engage in fireline construction, burnout operations, and mop-up activities.
  • Equipment Handling: Utilize and maintain firefighting equipment such as chainsaws, pumps, engines, hand tools, and vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other firefighting personnel in a high-pressure environment to ensure the safety of all team members while achieving the objective of controlling and extinguishing wildfires.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with supervisors, incident commanders, and fellow crew members.
  • Physical Fitness: Maintain a high level of physical fitness to meet the demands of the job, including hiking over rugged terrain, carrying heavy equipment, and working long shifts in challenging conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Red Card Certification: Must possess a valid Red Card for all positions.
  • CDL & Med Card: Required for ENGB positions (Engine Boss).
  • Previous Wildland Firefighting Experience: Preferred but not required for FFT1(t) and ENGB(t) positions.
  • Physical Fitness: Must be in good physical condition to handle the rigorous demands of wildland firefighting.
  • Ability to Work in Extreme Conditions: Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions and remote locations for extended periods.
  • Team-Oriented: Must be able to work effectively in a team environment under high-stress situations.
  • Valid Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required, with a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred for certain positions.
